Collie Elisha Bishop of Hearne succumbed Tuesday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m. after having been in falling health for a long time.

He was a painter and a veteran of World War I having served in France with the Army.

Born in Bishopville on November 23, 1894, Mr. Bishop was 71 years, four months and six days of age at death. He was a member of the Elliott Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held from the chapel of Heartfield Funeral Home on Friday, April 1, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Walter Crabb, pastor of the Elliott Baptist Church, as the officiating minister.

Interment followed in Norwood Cemetery with the following nephews serving as pallbearers: James Bishop, Raymond Glover, Wayne Hancock, Odie Byrd, Jesse Bishop and Arnold Bishop.

Mr. Bishop is survived by son, Thomas Bishop of Hearne; two daughters, Miss Etta Lee Bishop of Hearne and Mrs. Eunice Gibson of San Antonio; six grandchildren. Also four brothers, Walter, Lindon, and Dennie Bishop all of Hearne, and Willie Bishop of Houston; and five sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Spencer and Mrs. Minnie Hancock of Hearne, Mrs. Nannie Byrd of Franklin, Mrs. Florence Martin of Bryan and Mrs. Dollie Glover of Elgin.
