Henry Valentine was born December 14, 1798, in Creagerstown, Frederick County, Maryland, the son of Jacob and Anna Maria Freeze Valentine. He was a twin to Magdalena Valentine Firor. On May 2, 1825, he married Mary Margaret Smith, in Frederick County, Maryland. They were the parents of 4 children: Savilla Catherine, Margaret Ann Eliza, Melancthon and William Joseph Valentine. After Mary Margaret's death in 1835, Henry re-married to Sarah Mary Eckert, on April 14, 1835. They were the parents of 6 children: Jefferson Eli, Orlander Florentine, Mary Ann Deborah, Charlton Henry Addison, Jennie L. D. and Alice V. Valentine.

From the History of Pickaway County, Ohio, page 845:

"...Henry Valentine and his wife, both of whom were natives of Frederick County, Maryland, came to Pickaway County in 1851, at which time their son, Charlton A. Valentine, was but four years old, and settled on a farm east of Circleville where Henry Valentine devoted his time to agricultural pursuits until the time of his death in 1857. His widow survived him many years, dying in 1895..."

Death notice for Henry Valentine from the Circleville Watchman of Wednesday, April 15, 1857:

"DIED. On Sunday last in this township of typhoid fever, Mr. HARRY VALENTINE, aged 58 years. Mr. Valentine came to this township from Maryland in 1851."
