Lawrence Brubaker, 81, of 5193 S. M-18, Beaverton, died suddenly Tuesday, Feb. 17, at his home. Born in Grout Township April 26, 1905, he had spent his life-time in the county. Mr. Brubaker was retired from farming and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 5280. Mr. Brubaker and the former Eva Myers were married Aug. 14, 1926, in Gladwin. She preceded him in death April 16, 1935.
Surviving are 6 sons, Lloyd of Inkster, Bud and Delano of Midland, Charles, Steve and Dennis of Beavertn; 6 daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Pat) Milks of Saginaw, Mrs. Pat (Sarah) Cabala of Freeland, Mrs. Don (Betty) Shea of Gladwin, Mrs. Dour (Leah) Martindale of Delton, Mrs. Duranad (Elva) Gardner of Harrison and Mrs. Dirk (Grace) McKimmy of Beaverton; 2 brothers, John of Clare and Victor of Gladwin; one sister, Mrs. Nora Gruss of Beal City; 57 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren. a son, Floyd died in infancy.
Services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Father Donald Christensen officiated and burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. A Rosary was held Friday at 7:30 p.m at the Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton Chapel. Memorials may be made to the donor's charity. Gladwin County Record dated 02-25/1987 Column - 3 Page - 2

COMMENTS:

Lawrence and Eva lived on a farm three miles south of Beaverton. This farm belonged to Eva's father. They lived in one of the two homes on this farm on the east side of M-18. It was late 1931 or '32 that Lawrence and Eva moved to the Brubaker farm for about ten years. In 1943 they moved back to her father's farm south of Beaverton and bought it.
The period of time from when Lawrence and Eva were married in 1926 through 1934 there were no facts available at the time of this writing to pinpoint just where they were living and when they moved from one place to another.
Lawrence was a farmer and a handyman. He worked at all kinds of construction work and was employed by Dow Chemical and Robinson Industries for a short period of time.
