JOHN BRUBAKER
John A. Brubaker, 85, of 9419 E. Browns Rd., Clare, died Thursday, Dec. 29, in the Clare Nursing Home after a short illness. Born in Paulding County, Ohio, June 16, 1903, he had spent most of his life in Clare County. Mr. Brubaker farmed and was a member of the Gladwin Sacred Heart Church, the Clare County Farm Bureau and the Gladwin Knights of Columbus Council 5280. He served on the Clare County Board of Commissioners from 1950 to 1973 and also was the chairman. Mr. Brubaker and the former Alta Cooper were married in June 1927 in Gladwin.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, John of Auburn Dale, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Jean Brubaker of Holt; 2 grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Father Donald Christensen officiated and burial was in the Arthur Township Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Hall Funeral Home.
