Hazel Ruby Ivey Freshour was born the daughter of John Franklin Ivey and Tinnie Scott Ivey. She was born in Lupton City, Tennessee.
Hazel had 2 brothers Roy Ivey and Ben Ivey of Chattanooga.
She had half brother, Buster Ivey and half-sister, Cora Ivey White and half sister, Rhetta Ivey Hamic.
She had seven half siblings from her biological father, listed under John Franklin Ivey's memorial in the website.
Hazel did not seem to know about her siblings thru her father since he passed away when Hazel was 5 years old.

Hazel married Walter Filmore Freshour having six children; Jewell, Jean, Joyce, Richard, Walter and Gail.
Hazel lived in Pensacola from 1930 while her husband was in the Army for a few years until she coaxed Walter to move back to Chattanooga,TN., her home.. They lived in East Lake until 1946 when they moved to Hixson, TN. The family lived in a couple houses near Boy Scout Road until they settled down on Moses Road. There was a 2 bedroom house there where they raised their children.. Hazel worked at Lupton City Mill until about 1961. She made thread in her job using a doffer.. and special scissors.
Her children started marrying and wonderful beautiful grandchildren were her delight.

Hazel was able to visit her daughter Jewell in Ohio several times. She also visited Walter and family in Oklahoma and Texas in the 1970's.She made trips to Texas to visit Joyce also in 1983 for the last time.
Hazel was a long time member of Friendship Baptist Church in Hixson , TN.She read and enjoyed her Bible. We were able to use her Bible to find her favorite messages and verses for her memorial when she passed away.
Hazel moved to Soddy Daisy in 1970 to live in her mobile home..
Hazel prepared wonderful Christmas Dinners when she lived in her mobile home in Soddy Daisy, TN. That was her Christmas gift to her family.
She enjoyed going to Senior Neighbors with friends.
She loved watching Wrestling on TV also..
She loved to play Rook with her family.
She endured Asthma and Arthritis over the years..
She became ill suddenly with what was thought to be a heart attack at first.. but turned out to be Necrotizing Pancreatitis and it did not respond to treatment.. She passed away at Parkridge Hospital in 1984 with all her family near by.
