Arthur was raised by a friend of Pat Smith, Mae Jones, and went by the name of Arthur Jones for the rest of his life. Art eventually moved to Michigan and reconnected with his two sisters, Rose (Rosalee Smith (Shepherd) (Ley) and Thelma Smith (Faulkner) who both lived in Grand Rapids Michigan until they died.
