James Ivey was the son of John Franklin Ivey and Malinda Ivey of Tennessee. He was one of ten children born to this couple.

James married Rachel having many children of their own. They raised hogs and worked as farmers.

Obituary:
Ivey-James L., 97, of 713 Park City Dr. Fort Oglethorpe, died Monday in a Cleveland, Tenn., hospital. He was retired from Tennessee Stove Works after 40 years service. Survivors include four sons, Clarence and Charles L. Ivey, both of Cleveland, Leonard L. Ivey, Chattanooga, and J.L. Ivey, Miami Fl; three daughters Mrs. Nigal Cagle,, Valdosta, GA, Louise Adamson, Harrison and Dorothy Sillery, Miami; 43 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and two great great granchildren. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Michael Combs officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by the West Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Dorothy M. Sillery is buried at Florida National Cemetery FAG#1180390.
