Gertrude Isabel Ivey was the daughter of John Franklin and Malinda Caroline Ivey. She was one of ten children born to this couple.

In 2000 I received a box with things that belonged to Gertrude's sister, Bertha, my grandmother. The box included cards and floral tags from Bertha's funeral in 1943. Most of the floral cards came from "Ivey's Floral Shop". It was then that I realized Gertrude owned the floral shop which was located in Chattanooga.

Gertrude's mother died in 1902 which left her to be the caretaker of the ten children while her father worked. Her father remarried in 1909, shortly after, Gertrude left the home taking several of her siblings with her.

Gertrude Ivey was the backbone of the support for the children of John and Malinda Ivey. When her sister, Bertha was killed, she arranged and paid for the funeral.

Gertrude married Harry Cramer and later Andy Wilkey. Her obit states she had one daughter by the name of Beulah Wilkey Bunch.

Throughout her life, Gertrude retained the last name, "Ivey".
