Also, Susannah was not born until about 1769 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Her mother was born in 1752 and her parents were not married until 1767 when they were listed as sponsors for the baptism of Johannes De Dieu in August 1767. It is proved that Susannah Deibler Hoffman is the daughter of Capt. Albrecht Deibler and Anna Catharine Shupp in probate records for Capt. Deibler's estate. She is listed as a minor child (under 14) in 1777, and later with her married name as the wife of Christian Hoffman.

Deborah Hoffman Weiner shared her Research Notes for Susannah:
Susannah, in this compiler's opinion, was the second eldest child of Albrecht and Catharina (Schupp) Deibler. To date (2004) neither her date of birth nor baptism has come to light. According to the birth year of her last child, Catharina Hoffman in 1814, Susanna would have been 45 years old, if she was born in 1769. This compiler feels that she was born somewhere in Lancaster county, perhaps in the Elizabethtown/Mount Joy area, as that is where the Schupps and Deiblers were members of Lutheran congregations before migrating to Upper Paxtang Twp. and the "upper end" of Lancaster county. Given her approx. birth year, plus the aknowledgement that the DAR has estimated an approx. marriage year as 1784, we guesstimate that Susannah was only about 15-16 years of age when she wed.

On November 11, 1777 Susannah was named by the Lancaster County Orphan's Court as one of (6) children of Catharine and the late Captain Albrecht Deibler, who died in the Revoltionary War. In an accounting of Albrecht's intestacy records, Susannah was awarded 28 pounds as her fair share of her father's estate. The court also appointed Peter Hoffman, her future father-in-law, as guardian over her estate. In April of 1795 the Dauphin County Orphan's Court finally settled Albright Deibler's estate. All of his children were listed and named once more in these court documents. Susannah, by then, was married and her married name was noted as "Hoffman". In addition, besides her brother Daniel being named as suriety to Albright's estate, CHRISTIAN HOFFMAN, Susannah's Husband, was also named as co-suriety along with Daniel. This information is on file at the Dauphin County Courthouse in Harrisburg.

In numerous publications Susannah is referenced as being the wife of CHRISTIAN HOFFMAN Sr. Her surname "Deibler", to add further credence to this marriage, is listed when noting her burial location next to her husband Christian Hoffman at Fetterhoff's Evangelical Lutheran and Reformed Church SPRING GROVE graveyard, where both of their remains are interred. Information on Susannah's gravesite, w/o grave marker is taken from SPRING GROVE-FETTERHOFF"S CEMETERY RECORDS AND DAUPHIN COUNTY TOMBSTONE INSCRIPTIONS VOL. II, published by OSCAR H. STOH - copyright 1987.
