A n actual church record of birth of this David Buffington has yet to be found, but his lineage has been clarified by the location of a transcription of the original "memorandum book" created by George Buffington, David's paternal uncle and George's son (after the death of his father), also named George Buffington. The memorandum book gives birth, death, marriage dates and relationship information for a great many Buffingtons.The identity of the person who transcribed the original remains a mystery. David was the son of Benjamin Buffington and his second wife, Anna Catherine Deibler (widow of Albrecht Deibler).His year of birth confirms that he had to be Catherine's son. George Buffington's (the 1st) description of him as "my brother" confirms that he was also Benjamin Buffington's son.
