Phillip was baptised at Hoffman's Church in Lykens Valley. Sponsors at his baptism were Phillip Hock and wife Charlotte. Phillip was later Justice of the Peace for Jefferson Twp., Dauphin county, PA. In 1869 he was named co-executor, along with nephew Cornelius Hoffman, in his brother, Christian Hoffman Jr.'s "will."
