Event Date: 20 Dec 1752

Father's Name: Georg Shup

She married first Albrecht Deibler before 16 March 1767 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, when they were listed as sponsors at a baptism as a married couple. Before 1773, the family, including her parents, moved to Lykens Valley, then in Lancaster County, now in Dauphin County.
When the call came for the colonist to fight the Revolutionary War, her husband was named as Captain of the men from Lancaster County. He was killed in battle the first year of the War. Since he died intestate, Catharine Deibler, widow of Albrecht Deibler, was given a Letter of Administration by Lancaster County Court on 9 June 1777. She returned to the Court on 11 November 1777 to give an accounting of the estate and the minor children, only this time she was there with her second husband, Benjamin Buffington.
Benjamin Buffington was a neighbor in Lykens Valley whose first wife, Mary Mercy Frissell, had died at least before 1777. So widower Benjamin Buffington and widow Catharine Deibler were married sometime between 9 June 1777 and 11 November 1777. They had four or five more children together.
