Zella K. Bowers, 84, of Chapel Pointe at Carlisle and formerly of Hillside Drive, Carlisle, died Friday, June 23, 2005, in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.

Born on Nov. 14, 1920, in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late Edward W. and Susan Minerva Book Roth and the widow of Kenneth E. Bowers.

Zella was a graduate of Carlisle High School and retired employee of the former Wenger's Ladies Apparel, Carlisle. She was a member of the First Church of the Brethren, where she was in the church choir, on the church board, in the Women's Fellowship and a children's Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of Farm Women 9 and a former 4-H Club leader. She was a loving grandmother.

Surviving are a son, Gary L. Bowers, and his wife, Carol, Woodbury, Conn.; two daughters, Karen J. Ammerman, and her husband, Brian, Carlisle, and Mary Ann Traina and her husband, Roy, Newton Falls, Ohio; a brother, G. Book Roth, Carlisle; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Adam and Helen Martin; three brothers, David, Mark and Roy Roth; and an infant sister.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, in the First Church of the Brethren, Carlisle, with the Rev. Melanie Jones officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. The family will receive friends after the service in the church.

Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Brethren, 1340 Forge Road, Carlisle, PA 17013.
