For the funeral of Grandpa Bates which occurred last Wednesday, no minister could be procured. J. W. Yergey acted instead, conducting a very appropriate exercise in Bible readings and consoling remarks. The interment was at Villisca, where undertaker Day met the procession with Rev. Hohenshelt, who finished the services. The funeral was held here at the Baptist Church.
