WINTER HARBOR - Otto A. Backman, 71, died at an Ellsworth hospital Sept. 3. He was born on Beals Island August 12, 1903, the son of Herman and Estelle (Church) Backman.
He was a member of the Advent Christian Church in Harrington and the Lobsterman's Association and was an association delegate.
He is survived by his widow, Alberna (Beal) Backman of Winter Harbor; two daughters, Ms. Lila Backman of Elliot, Maine; Mrs. Alice Worcester of Gouldsboro; one son, Daniel Wayne Backman of Winter Harbor; four sisters, Mrs. Ulrika Faulkingham of Winter Harbor; Mrs. Rebecca Graves of Quincy, Mass.; Mrs. Laura Beal and Mrs. Louisa Crowley, both of Beals; four brothers, Fulton of Prospect Harbor, Donald of West Gouldsboro, Bernard of Jonesport and Herman Jr. of Beals; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Warren Funeral Home in Milbridge Friday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the family lot in Greenwood Cemetery, Jonesport.
