BEALS - Laura Alverda Beal, 86, died Nov. 8, 2001, at Down East Community Hospital in Machias. She was born in Jonesport, Dec. 19, 1914, the daughter of Herman and Rhoda Estella (Church) Backman.
She is survived by her husband, Calvin Beal Sr.; a daughter, Alverna and husband Donald Williams of Jonesport; three sons, Benny Beal and wife Ann of Jonesport; Lewis Beal and wife Sarah of Bradley; Elihu Beal IV and wife Donna of Marshfield; a brother Herman Backman Jr. and wife Norma of Beals; and a sister Rebecca Graves of Wollaston, Mass; 10 grandchildrden, 12 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Elihu; 2 infant sons & several brothers & sisters.
A graveside service was held at Sewall Field Cemetery on Beals Island.
