Henriette Criley Amidon lived almost her entire life in Toledo, Iowa. She began working at the Toledo Chronicle and in 1941, she became the Tama County Recorder and held that position until her retirement in 1974. After her retirement Henriette continued to make her home in Toledo where she was active in the Otterbein United Methodist Church and the U.M.W. Rebekah Lodge and was also a 50 year member of the Toledo American Legion Auxiliary and the D.A.R. She never married.
