Herbert W. Amidon, 84, of 31029 120th Ave W., Muscatine (Rock Island County) died yesterday at his home. Funeral services will be at 1:30 Friday afternoon at the Fairbank-Lamb Funeral Home, Muscatine, with the Rev. Roberto Mariano officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Muscatine. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 Thursday afternoon. Mr. Amidon was born Jan. 20, 1895 in Toledo, Iowa, a son of Henry and Hattie Criley Amidon. On August 26, 1928, he married Isabella Cullison in Rock Island. He served in the Army during WW I and was a retired heavy construction worker. He was a member of the Pine Bluff United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Robert of Rock Island and Richard of Edgington; two daughters, Mrs. Richard Westbrook of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Mrs. Laurence Hoffeditz of Reynolds; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Horace Amidon of Iowa City, and four sisters, Miss Henrietta Amidon and Mrs. Harriette Allen, both of Marshalltown, Iowa, Mrs. Helen Galey of Lombard and Mrs. Hester Proffitt of Huntington Beach, Calif.
