Wilma Angel Hollifield, age 85, of Candler, died Tuesday, August 23, 2011.
Mrs. Hollifield was born June 7, 1926, in Yancey County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life. She formerly worked at Western Freewill Baptist Rest Home and Maggie's Place. She loved working in her flowers. She was a daughter of the late Willard Bascombe and Lina Parris Angel. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Hugh "Dink" Hollifield who died in 1975; sisters, Dema Griffin, Bertha Parham, Sue DeBruhl, and Lena Ruppert; brothers, Ralph, Howard, Homer, Jay, Johnny, and Mack Angel.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who is survived by her daughter, Martha Sue Redden and husband James of Marshall; son, Sammy Hollifield and wife Carol of Weaverville; special daughter, Patti Gilmore; sister, Christine Moore of Leicester; brother, Sam Angel of Alexander; grandchildren, Kyle, Dale, Anita, Chrystal, Paula, and Charlotte; and 14 great grandchildren.
Burial will be in French Broad Missionary Baptist Church, Curtis Miles Rd. Alexander, N. C.
