Ralph Allen Ireton, 85, died Feb. 22, 1991 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, following a short illness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Converse Funeral Chapel in Douglas, with Rev. Thomas L. Hall of the Congregational United Church of Christ officiating.
Pallbearers were Jim Ballard, Bob Stoddard, Wayne Riehle, Jim Nachtman, Carl Steinle and Frank Eathorn
Interment was in Douglas Park Cemetery.
He was born Oct. 24, 1905 in Livingston, Montana, to Robert Kelley and Elizabeth Marie (Ballard) Ireton.
In 1913 the family moved to Mullen, Nebraska, where they lived until 1922. They then traveled by covered wagon to Wyoming, where homesteaded on land in Converse County, 50 miles north of Douglas. Ralph took a homestead as soon as he was of age.
He met Mary Faulkner in 1930, when she moved to Wyoming with her family. They were married June 10, 1933 in Harrison, Nebraska. They lived on the homestead in Wyoming until March 1940, then moved to their ranch, 30 miles north of Douglas.
They retired in 1972, selling their ranch and moved into Douglas.
He was a member of the Converse County Farm Bureau and the Wyoming Pioneer Association. He loved fishing and boating, gardening and cooking.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Douglas; one brother, Fred Ireton of Kelso, Washington; three sons, Roy of Cortez, CO, Cecil of Douglas and Donald of Douglas; four daughters, Alice Reed of Douglas, Opal Gallagher of Douglas, Faye Halligan Manning of Troy, Montana and Doris Menter of Douglas; 17 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ernest, James and Russell, who died when a small child; four grandchildren
