Funeral services for Mary L.C. Ireton, 70, were held Saturday, Jan 22, 1994, at 2pm at the Ocnvene Funeral Chapel in Douglas. Rev. Merrill Lanker of the Congregational United Church of Christ officiated
Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Roy A Menter, Donald E. Ireton, Eric Ireton, Troy Ireton, Scott Ireton, Michael Gallagher, Matthew Gallagher, Patrick Gallagher, Calvin L. Halligan, Chadwick E. Halligan, Clint L. Halligan, Kevin L. Menter,
and Mark D. Menter. Honorary pallbearers are all of Mary's friends.
Mrs. Ireton, a longtime resident of Douglas, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 1994, at the Converse County Memorial Hospital, Douglas, following a short illness.
She was born Aug.3, 1915, in Humboldt, Kan., the daughter of Sanders Alexander and Viola Rebecca (Mayhugh) Faulkner.
In l929 she moved with her parents to Douglas, Wyoming, where she finished her schooling. They homesteaded on land 60 miles north of Douglas.
On June 10, 1933, she married Ralph A. Ireton in Harrison Neb.
The couple lived on the homestead until March 1940, then they moved to their ranch 30 miles north of Douglas. They retired in 1972, selling the ranch and moving into Douglas.
Mrs. Ireton was a member of the Converse County Farm Bureau Homemakers, Tops and the Wyoming Pioneer Association.
She was an avid fisherman, loved to play bingo, cards, Blitz and traveling.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, neighbor and friend.
Mary is survived by seven children: Alice Reed, Opal Gallagher, Cecil, and Donald Ireton and Doris Menter, all of Douglas; Roy Ireton of Cortez Colo.; Faye Halligan Manning of Troy, Mt.; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, who died Feb. 22, 1991; three brothers: Arthur Faulkner, Emer Faulkner and Lesley Faulkner; three sisters: Flossie Scobey, Nina Holland and a sister, who died as a small child; four grandchildren, Debora Reed, James Menter Jr., Robert Menter, and Baby Gallagher.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
