FANNY (PETTIT) PRICE
(July 13, 1884 ~ December 22, 1918)

Fanny Pettit was born July 13, 1884 in Wills Point, Van Zandt County, TX, the daughter of John Wesley Pettit & Etha Lucinda (McMillon) Pettit.

Fanny had 10 full brothers & sisters and 2 half siblings. Her 10 full siblings were Mary Susi McDonald, John H. pettit, James R. Pettit, Ollie Beck, Sallie Baker, Nannie Gilbert, Robert S. Pettit, Lucinda May Patterson, Hiram Pettit and Alvis Pettit. Her half siblings were Maggie and Ben Pettit who were born before all the others to a different mother. (Actually, their mother's sister, Mary Jane (McMillon) Pettit... After Mary Jane died, John Wesley married Etha Lucinda (McMillon).

Fanny married J. T. Price, and they had Fannie Ruth, Louise, Verna and Oscar G. Pettit.

Fanny died with the flu in 1918, at age 34. This was when so many people died with the flu. Her husband was left with the four children. One day, he left for work, and the children never saw nor heard from him ever again.

At the time of Fanny's death in 1918, her daughter, Ruth was about 10 years old, daughter Louise ?, daughter, Verna about 4 years old, and son, Oscar was about 2 years old.

Their uncle, Robert Scott Pettit and his wife, Clara (Roberts) Pettit took the four children to raise. They didn't have any children of their own at the time. I believe that Robert and Clara were in their 30s when they took in Fannie's children.

I'm not sure whether or not they adopted Fanny's children nor if they later had any of their own biological children.

Kudos to Robert Scott and Clara Pettit for raising Fanny's children!
