Hiram J. Pettit was born in Texas on December 8, 1886 to John Wesley Pettit and Etha Lucinda (McMillon) Pettit.
He and his family lived in Wills Point, Van Zandt County, Texas. The home place where they lived is now covered over by a man-made lake.
Hiram was number 12 of 13 children, with his brother Alvis Pettit being the youngest. All Hiram's brothers and sisters and his parents are linked to him at the bottom of this memorial.
He died on January 2, 1929 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas at the age of 42.

Hiram's death certificate on Ancestry shows that Hiram was married at the time of his death.
Hiram was buried at Mission Burial Park South, on S. E. Military Drive, described as: Block 6, Lot 828, Space 2. The cemetery is adjacent to the banks of the San Antonio River and near the historic Spanish Missions. It is a very big and well-kept cemetery.
