Miriam Elimina Koskela Ylitalo-Aho Obituary

Miriam Aho, age 82, passed away at the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home on November 25, 1986.

Miriam was born to Peter and Hilma Salmela Koskela on October 17, 1904 in Spruce Grove township, Becker County, MN. A life long resident of Becker County, Miriam was a member of the Laestadian Lutheran Church in Wolf Lake. She was a cook at the Wolf Lake school from 1960 until the school closed in 1975. She loved her hand work and was a devoted wife and mother. She wrote a column for the Review Messenger for years.

Miriam was married to Waino Ylitalo in September of 1925. Waino died in August of 1942. Miriam remarried in June of 1966 to Hans Aho. Hans died in March of 1986.

Miriam is survived by sons and daughters; Mrs. Hugo (Mildred) Kangas of Wolf Lake, Mrs. Arnold (Verna) Engen of Menahga, Wesley of Menahga, Raymond of Wolf Lake, Mrs. Virgil (Verlene) Nordby of Menahga, Clyde of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Rodney of Enid, Oklahoma; 27 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and three stepchildren. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, parents, daughter Viola, one infant son, six sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services for Miriam Aho were held on Sunday, November 30, at the Laestadian Lutheran Church in Wolf Lake. The officiant was the Reverend John Waariniemi. The organist was Sheila Keranen. Pallbearers were Wilbert Keranen, Howard Haataja. Leslie Ylitalo, Morris Jacobson, Melvin Aho and John Aho. A lunch was served by the ladies of the church. The interment was in the Green Valley Cemetery

Arrangements were by the Cardini-Behrens Funeral Home of Menahga.
