Mrs. Julia T. Agnew, widow of the late Rev. T. H. Agnew, died at Passavant hospital in Jacksonville, Friday, September 13, at 11 o'clock p.m., having been a patient at the hospital for about two weeks.

She was born in Naples, Illinois, January 24, 1862, the daughter of John and Nancy D. Eckles Mitchell, and was married to Theodore H. Agnew on December 21,1 882, at Virginia, Illinois.

Surviving are the following children: Mrs. C. F. Allen, Waverly; Mrs. Byrd Peebles, Virginia; Mrs. F. L. Davenport, Waverly; Mrs. L. D. Tanner, Jacksonville; and T. H. Agnes, Roseville.

Mrs. Agnew was prominent in church and W. C. T. U. circles during her active life. She was a daughter of a Methodist preacher, was baptized by Rev. Peter Cartwright when three years of age nd her husband was a Methodist preacher. She won three W. C. T. U. medals, silver, gold and grand gold in temperance declamation contests. For a number of years a resident of Waverly, she resided in Jacksonville the past twelve years. She retained her membership in the First Methodist Church in Waverly. In Jacksonville she was active in lodge circles being a member of the Eastern Star and White Shrine.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the Fairbanks Home for Funerals, Rev. Francis E. Smith, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiating.

The pall bearers were Joseph Darush and Jacob Frisch, of Jacksonville; Robert Etter, L. T. Seales, Lester Parkinson and E. H. Sheppard.

The flowers were cared for by Mrs. H. E. Conlee, Miss Eunice VanWinkle, Miss Lucille Davenport, Mrs. Van Luttrell, Mrs. Hannah Darush, Mrs. Gary Brandstetter, Mrs. Jack Frisch, Miss Irene Million and Miss Mary Wolke.

Burial was in East cemetery, Waverly Chpter No. 320, Order of Eastern Star, being in charge of the graveside services.
