The family is to receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family also will be at the home of Mrs. Abshire's daughter, Patti Easterwood. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
She was born Jan. 22, 1926, in Paris, the daughter of William Curtis and Scottie Johnson Hill. She graduated from Paris High School and married Jack Everett Abshire on Aug. 11, 1945, in Paris. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 37 years as a operator, and was a member of the Southwestern Bell Pioneers. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
She was affectionately known as "Granny" to her grandchildren, who were the love of her life; and, she will be greatly missed by her entire family.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jackie Abshire Morgan; her parents; two brothers, W. C. "Dub" Hill Jr. and the Rev. Terrell Hill; one infant sister, Helen Hill; three nephews, Keith, Hal and Scott Hill; and a great-nephew, Kelsey Hill.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Jack Abshire; one daughter, Patti Easterwood; a son-in-law, Mike Morgan; two granddaughters, Autumn E. Anderson and husband, Thomas and Misti Easterwood and her fiancé, Ryan Ferguson; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Railee and Clark Anderson; one brother, Rayburn Hill and wife, Nancy; two sisters, Laverne Guilliams and husband, Oswald, and Bettie Rhodes and husband, Benny; several nieces and nephews; and many, many beloved friends.
Her nephews will serve as pallbearers, Terry Hill, Ronny Hill, Ricky Crump, Curtis Crump, Brad Rhodes and Bryan Rhodes.
