THE PARIS NEWS, Feb. 20, 2006: “Jackie Abshire Morgan, 55, of West Columbia died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at Herman Memorial Hospital in Houston. A memorial service is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Scott officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. The family receives friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Heritage Hall. She was born Nov. 8, 1950, in Paris, to Jack and Mozelle Hill Abshire. She graduated from Paris High School in 1968 and received her accounting degree from Texas Christian University. She was retired from Enron Oil & Gas Corporation. She married Mike Morgan on April 2, 1994, in Paris. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, W. C. and Scottie Hill and C. E. and Leona Abshire; and her father-in-law, W. P. ‘Buddy’ Morgan. She is survived by her husband, Mike, of West Columbia; her parents, Jack and Mozelle Abshire of Paris; one sister, Patti Easterwood and husband, Rick, of Paris; three nieces, Letta Hines and husband, Gerry, and Autumn and Misti Easterwood, all of Paris; nephew, Jason Burress of McKinney; her mother-in-law, Jackie Morgan of Paris; two great-nieces, Railee Jones and Kate Hines; a great-nephew, Tyler Jones; and sister-in-law, Mickey Reed and husband, Gerald, of Clarksville. If desired, memorials may be made to the Meals on Wheels program.”

She was a daughter of Jack Everrett Abshire and Ouida Mozelle Hill Abshire. Her grandparents were Charles Eason Abshire, Leona Cheatham Abshire, William Curtis Hill, Sr. and Scottie Mable Johnson Hill. She had one sibling, Patricia Gail Abshire. She graduated from Paris High School. She attended Texas Christian University and graduated from Southwest Texas State University (Texas State University) with a degree in accounting. She was the first female auditor hired by the Texas Comptroller’s Office. She worked for Campbell Soup Company in Paris, Texas. She was employed as an oil and gas contract buyer for a company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was employed as a contract worker for Enron in Houston, Texas. She was married to (1) Eric Clifford, (2) Mark Hersh and (3) Mike Morgan. She died February 18, 2006, in Houston, Harris County, Texas. Cremains were interned at Church of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Paris, Texas.
