Jack Everett Abshire 93, of Paris, died at 5:15 AM, Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Jack was born July 11, 1921 in the Jennings Community of Lamar County to Charles and Leona Cheatham Abshire.

He served his country in the United States Navy Seabees during World War II and married Mozelle Hill on August 11, 1945 in Paris. She died March 30, 2011 after 65 years of marriage. Mr. Abshire was a local barber working in several barber shops for almost 70 years. He was the owner of the Deluxe Barber Shop and member of both the Noon and Breakfast Optimist Clubs. Jack was the clock and scoreboard keeper for the Paris High School football games for 49 years never missing a single home game. He was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Mr. Abshire is survived by a daughter, Patti Abshire Easterwood; two grandchildren who affectionately called him "Papa", Autumn Anderson and husband, Thomas and Misti Easterwood; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Railee, and Clark Anderson; one brother, Robert Abshire; one sister, Marie Strickland; and his son-in-law, Mike Morgan. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jackie Abshire Morgan on February 18, 2006; one sister, Katherine Birdsong; and three brothers, Ralph, Gene, and Charles Abshire, Jr.

Funeral services are set for 11:00 AM, Monday, May 11, 2015 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Scott and Rev. Eric Moore officiating. A private family interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
