Milford was the first child born to Walter R. Cornelius and Jessie K. Locke. He married Willie Mae Murphree Dec 25, 1925 in Brown County, Texas. Two children: Beulah Vernice and Walter Milford "Dub".

"Services for A.M. (Shorty) Cornelius, 68, of 1811 Sixth St., will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Central United Methodist Church with Dr. D.D.Tidwell, Rev Leon Aduddell, and Rev Ray Elliott officating.

Graveside Masonic rites will be at Zephyr Cemetary with the Brownwood Commandry acting as escorts. Davis-Morris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Cornelius died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home following a brief illness.

Born Dec 13, 1900, in Brown County, he was owner of Sanitary Barber Shop here. He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, Friendly Fellows Bible Class and all Brownwood Masonic bodies.

He was a past high priest of Brownwood Chapter 141, past thrice illustrious master of Brownwood Council 86, Master of Brownwood Council 186, past commander of Brownwood Commandry 22, Knight of York Cross of honor of Texas Priory 23, past Worthy Patron Brownwood Eastern Star, 32nd Degree Mason of Waco Scottish Rite Bodies; and a Knight Templar priest of Nazareth Tabernacle XXXIV, H.R.A.K.T.P.

He was a past master of Brownwood Lodge 279, and past district deputy grand master. He had lived all of his life in Brown County and was married to Willie Murphree Dec 25, 1921.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Bill Lambert of Tyler; his mother, Mrs. Jessie Cornelius of Brownwood; three brothers. Roland Cornelius of California, Solomon Cornelius of Carrollton and Darwin Cornelius of Brady; and three grandchildren."

Milford sang in the Huggins quartet. They sang on Brownwood radio station KBWD each Thursday night from 10 until 11 o'clock alongwith other quartets. William B. Huggins was the lead singer; Gene Burleson sang alto; A.M. (Short Folks) Cornelius sang baritone; Homer Petross sang base; and Little Don Norris was the pianist. The boys were boosters of gospel music and sang for churches, conventions, USO Clubs, and funerals.
