Services for Rev. Homer W. Stanbery, 92, of Huntington, were held Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999 in the Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Rev. Stanbery was born Dec. 15, 1906 in Ennis, Texas to the late Minnie (Bond) and Van Buren Stanbery. He died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999 in a Lufkin nursing home. Rev. Stanbery was a retired minister and farmer. He was a member of the Huntington First Baptist Church. He had been a resident of Huntington for 36 years, and was a former resident of Van Zandt county.

Survivors: sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Martha Stanbery of Austin, Truman and Jean Stanbery of Huntington, Daner and Alaphane Stanbery of Brownsboro, Hollis and Gilda Stanbery of Farmersville; daughters and sons-in-law, Yvonne and Wayne Armet of Huntington, Barbara and Billie Capps of Lufkin; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Rev. Stanbery was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Stanbery in 1990; grandsons, Daniel Armet, Sr. in 1983 and Kenny Capps in 1989; and granddaughter, Danetta Davis in 1998.
