Wilma Hutchinson, 88, of University Park, Iowa, died Friday, December 3, 2010, at the Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. She was born July 13, 1922, in Lucas County, Iowa, the daughter of George Andrew and Laura Alfreda Abrahamson Duckworth. On January 1, 1939, she was united in marriage to Orland Hutchinson at Russell, Iowa, Orland died on September 5, 1986. Early on she worked as a clerk at Ben Franklin in Omaha, Nebraska. Later she helped Orland in the churches where he served as pastor. They moved to Oskaloosa in 1954. In 1958 she started working at the United States Post Office in University Park. She was the Postmaster there from 1974, until her retirement in 1982. On February 14, 1987, she was united in marriage to Merrill Hutchinson at Oskaloosa. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Oskaloosa. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning, gardening, and camping. She also enjoyed the many winters that she and Merrill spent in Texas.

She is survived by her husband, Merrill Hutchinson of University Park; two sons and their wives: Larry and Luanne Hutchinson of Branson, Missouri, and Ron and Loretta Hutchinson of Hamilton, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and a sister: Ina Jean Halferty of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Dorotha Long and Leila McDonald; and four brothers: Leland, Ward, Verlyn, and Duane Duckworth.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at 10am in the Bethel Baptist Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend David Hutchinson and Reverend Bruce Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Chariton Cemetery on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 2pm. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Tuesday morning after 9am in the funeral chapel and the family will be at the chapel on Tuesday evening from 6-8 to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny.
