LAURA DUCKWORTH
Laura Alfreda Abrahamson Duckworth, daughter of John and Fredricka Abrahamson, was born in Lucas county, Dec. 11, 1889, and passed away June 18, 1963, at the age of 73 years, six months and seven days.
She was married Dec. 31, 1908, to George Duckworth. To them were born four sons: Leland of Omaha, Neb., Ward of Chariton, Verlyn of Indianola, and Duane of Omaha; and four daughters: Mrs. Dortha Long of Chariton, Mrs. Leila McDonald of Hastings, Neb., Mrs. Wilma Hutchinson of University Park and Mrs. Ina Jean Halferty of Mt. Pleasant.
She is survived by two brothers: Manuel and Walter Abrahamson. Preceding her in death were a brother, Charles Abrahamson, a sister, Mrs. Esther Ballard, three great-grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
In her youth she accepted Christ as her saviour and after moving to Chariton she attended the Chariton Bible church until her health failed.
She will be long remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend.
Services were held Thursday, June 20, 1963, at the Miley Chapel with the Rev. LaRoy Anderson officiating and the Rev. Norman Bloom, Hastings, Neb., assisting. Interment was in Chariton cemetery.
