DUCKWORTH

Duane George Duckworth, the son of George and Laura Abrahamson Duckworth, was born on June 24, 1925, in Lucas County, Iowa. He departed this life July 24, 1994, at the Lucas County Health Center at the age of 67 years and one month.

At the age of 18, Duane moved to Omaha, Neb. He joined th U.S. Army in March of 1945, serving for two years.

On April 22, 1951, Duane was united in marriage to Lucille Elizabeth Etter. Six daughters were born to this union.

Duane accepted the Lord as his saviour on September 14, 1950. Duane, Lucille and family attended the Temple Baptist Church in Omaha, Neb., while living there. Duane was a very loving and faithful husband, father and grandfather and was always more concerned about his wife and family than himself. Duane and Lucille and family have been members of the Grace Baptist Church and have attended for almost 30 years. Duane's favorite chapter in the Bible was Psalms 23.

Duane worked as a carpenter for 31 years and was a custodian at the courthouse for five and one half years before retiring at the age of 62. After which he spent a lot of time making furniture and crafts and re-finishing furniture for people. He loved creating his own designs and making things for his children and families. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father and an older brother, Leland.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Lucille; six daughters, Mary Chipp of Russell, Teresa Duckworth of Russell, Vicki Bingham of Chariton, Pamela Ellis of Ottumwa, Kindra Utzke of Slater and Judy Walts of Wathena, Kan. Also surviving are sons-in-law, Bob Chipp, Jr., Ron Bingham, Mike Ellis, Dan Utzke, Gary Walts, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Duane also leaves four sisters, Dorotha Long, Leila McDonald, Wilma Hutchinson and Jean Halferty; two brothers, Ward Duckworth and Verlyn Duckworth; two brothers-in-law, Merrill Hutchinson and Joe Halferty; and two sisters-in-law, Wyoma Duckworth and Freda Duckworth.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 28, at the Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Dennis St. Lawrence officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery.
