Herman was born in Lietzow bei Plathe, in Kries Regenwalde (just south of Plathe). Immediately prior to their departure for the US, the family was living in the town of Naugard in Kreis Naugard. He was married to Wilhelmine "Minnie" Weisshahn on July 27, 1889 in Lincoln County, Wisconsin. To this union were born nine sons and one daughter.

Town of Scott Resident Dies - Herman Krueger Succumbs To Year's Illness; Came to Merrill in 1882
Herman Friedrich Wilhelm Krueger, resident of the town of Scott since 1883, died at 2:30 o'clock at the home of his son, Hubert, town of Scott. He had been ill a year with complications but he was able to sit up in bed Saturday morning and noon, and death came unexpected two hours later. The deceased was born Oct. 23, 1865, in Germany, and emigrated to Merrill in 1882. He acquired a tract of land of 100 acres in the town of Scott and cleared nearly sixty acres. The farm was turned over to his son, Hubert, in 1921 and the father has since been retired from active farming. The deceased was married July 27, 1889, at Merrill, to Miss Minnie Weisshahn, and 11 children were born to the union, one of whom died in infancy. The surviving children are Paul of Ringle, Wis. Fred of Sheboygan, Louis of Merrill, Rudolph of Grasston, Minn., Hubert of the town of Scott, George of Richland Center, Theodore of the town of Scott, August of Rib Lake, and Martin of Merrill. Besides the wife and children, there are 22 grandchildren, also the following sisters, Mesdames Carl Zamzow, town of Berlin, Gust Voight, town of Scott, and Henry Ebert of California, and one brother, Gerhardt Krueger, Merrill. The deceased was justice of the peace for about ten years, and supervisor of this town for five years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran church for 30 years. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, at two o'clock at the home and at 2:30 o'clock at the church, Rev. Walter Sievers to officiate. Burial will be in the Merrill Ceremony.
