MARGARET ELIZABETH BOWEN, born 1861, died 03 Jun 1934, was born and raised in what is now a small rural community Bulloch County, Georgia.  Since the 1914 Georgia State Legislature created Candler County partially from Bulloch County, today, her birthplace is near the small rural community known as the Excelsior Community of Candler County, Georgia with the County seat located in Metter, Georgia.  She is the fifth of eight children born to her parents, JOHN HUNTER BOWEN (born 17 Oct 1817, died 02 Oct 1871) and SUSANNAH ELIZABETH STRICKLAND (born 30 Aug 1834, died 08 Aug 1904).

Listed below are all the siblings of Margaret Elizabeth Bowen, including her, in birth order:

1) - Macey Ann Catherine Bowen, b. 30 Oct 1850, d. 15 Apr 1935, married Pharis Elkins Phillips (1855-1913).  Both are interred at Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia.

2) - Elisha Jackson Bowen, b. 10 Aug 1852, d. d. 19 May 1930.  His Death Certificate, dated June 1, 1930, states he is interred in Bulloch County however as of this writing his grave has not been found, and a findagrave.com Memorial Record has been established by a descendant in the findagrave.com record in Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery (in this writer’s opinion it would be appropriate to place a Stone Memorial there next to his Mother Headstone monument, or next to his father’s monument at Bowen-Dekle Cemetery, Candler County, Georgia.  The search is still on for his burial site).

3) - Rebecca Ann Bowen, b. 01 Apr 1855, d. 12 Nov 1937, married John Malcolm Warnock (1851-1941), both are interred at Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia.

4) - Alfred Jackson Bowen (Sr.), b. 31 May 1858, d. 06 Dec 1929, married Ann Elizabeth "Annie Eliza" Williams, both are interred in Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, on US Highway 301, Bulloch County, Georgia.

5) - Margaret Elizabeth Bowen, b. 1860, d. 03 Jun 1934, married (1) Henry Grady Foston (1863 d. Unknown), burial unknown, and (2), a widower and CSA Veteran, Peter Cone Richardson (1839-1918), buried in the Peter Cone Richardson Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia next to his first wife.  Margaret had one child with her first husband and one child with her second husband.  She is interred at Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia where all her sisters that survived to maturity are interred.

6) - Silas Everett Bowen, b. 09 Feb 1862, d. 20 Sep 1931, His Death Certificate, dated December 30, 1931 by Registrar, Mrs. D. C. Jones, states his place of internment as Trinity Cemetery on 21 Sep 2014.  An existing Trinity Cemetery, in Bulloch County, Georgia at the time of his death has not yet been found by this writer as of October 28, 2014.  The search is still on for his burial site, however his direct descendants may decide to erect a Memorial Monument in a Bulloch County Cemetery. It this occurs, this biography will be updated accordingly.

7) - Deborah Bowen, b. 29 Jun 1865, d. Aug 1865, in infancy. Deborah is interred in the Bowen-Dekle Family Cemetery, Candler County, Georgia, adjacent to her father, John Hunter Bowen. Her grave is in the same cemetery plot containing the graves of her grandparents and her uncle Robert Bowen, born 1804, died circa 1805, who also died in infancy.

8) - William P. Bowen, b. 1866, d. unknown, burial site unknown at this time.  As of this writing it is believed he moved to Alabama as a very young man to make his fortune further West which was a very popular way for young men to obtain land and make a living at that time, however this is not certain, and we, his cousins, are continuing to search for his final resting place.

MARGARET married 1st to HENRY GRADY FOSTON born about 1863, died unknown.  Margaret married 2nd to  PETER CONE RICHARDSON, born 18 Nov 1839, died 23 Feb 1918.  MARGARET ELIZABETH BOWEN and PETER CONE RICHARDSON raised two children from the body of MARGARET.  The oldest child, a son, from her 1st marriage to HENRY GRADY FOSTON born about 1863, died unknown, and the youngest child, a son, from her 2nd marriage to PETER CONE RICHARDSON.  Both were sons of MARGARET ELIZABETH BOWEN.  This marriage was the 2nd marriage for PETER CONE RICHARDSON also.  He and his deceased 1st wife, Cynthia Ann R. Strickland (1839-1898) had 13 children and after her death MARGARET married her widower and finished the task of raising the children (who were then MARGARET'S stepchildren). The children of MARGARET's body, which she and PETER raised together are;

1.  Her 1st born son, WILLIAM JEFFERSON FOSTON (born 09 Nov 1895, died 02 Oct 1978), born in Tennessee and died in Savannah, Georgia.  William is Margaret’s only child and son from her 1st marriage to HENRY GRADY FOSTON, (born about 1863, died unknown).  William married REBECCA LEOLA CRIBBS.  There were no children from this marriage. Both are interred in Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia in the same Cemetery where his mother is buried.

2.  Her 2nd born son, MORGAN FLOYD RICHARDSON, born 04 May 1904 in Hubert, Bulloch County, Georgia, died 16 May 1990 in Atlanta, Georgia, interred in Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs, Fulton County, Georgia (Source: His daughter, Mary Anne Richardson).  MORGAN’S mother,  MARGARET ELIZABETH BOWEN, is interred in Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia.  MORGAN’S father PETER CONE RICHARDSON, born 18 Nov 1839, died 23 Feb 1918, CSA Veteran, and prominent and well-known citizen of the Ivanhoe Community of Bulloch County, Georgia.  On 17 SEP 1937, MORGAN married THEODOSIA ELIZABETH JORDAN, b. 16 Mar 1916 in Sandersville, GA, d. 25 FEB 2006.  She is interred in Sister's Baptist Church, Sandersville, GA.  Children from this marriage were four daughters, listed below, in birth order:

      i.  Margaret Elizabeth Richardson, b. 17 Sep 1938.
      ii. Sarah Virginia Richardson, b. 29 May 1942.
      iii. Mary Anne Richardson. b. 31 Jul 1947.
      iv. Marilyn Kay Richardson, b. 2 Nov 1950.

Note:  The above is a WORK IN PROGRESS and much additional information is needed to complete even a cursary listing of their eight children’s biography, but here the much more narrow objective is just to get their CORRECT birth names, dates of birth/death, names of spouses, and location of their final resting places.  Over time, with the able assistance of their descendants, it will come together, I believe .
