MACEY ANN CATHERINE BOWEN's Father is John Hunter Bowen, b. 17 Oct 1817, d. 02 Oct 1871 and her mother is Susannah Elizabeth Strickland, b. 30 Aug 1834, d. 08 Aug 1904.

This photo of the reverse side of Macey Ann Catherine Bowen's father's headstone monument in the Bowen-Dekle Cemetery, Candler County, Georgia shows the names of her parents and all their children. All the children survived to adulthood except Deborah who died in infancy and is interred near her father, John Hunter Bowen. Macey Ann Catherine's mother, Susannah Elizabeth Strickland Bowen, is interred in the Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia, where all her daughter's are buried except, Deborah, the daughter who died in infancy. Susannah told her daughters not to bury her "way out there in the woods where your father is buried for no one will come out there to visit my grave". So, her daughters did as she wished and they are also interred there.

John Hunter Bowen, b. 17 Oct 1817, d. 02 Oct 1871 and Susannah Elizabeth Strickland, b. 30 Aug 1834, d. 08 Aug 1904

Her father, John Hunter Bowen is interred in Bowen-Dekle Cemetery, Excelsior Community, Candler County, Georgia and, her mother, Susannah ‘Susan’ Elizabeth Strickland is interred in Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia where their three daughters who survived to maturity are also buried.

Her parents had eight (8) children and all survived to adulthood except one (Deborah Bowen, b. 29 Jun 1865, d. Aug 1865. Deborah is interred in the Bowen-Dekle Family Cemetery, near Excelsior Community, Candler County, Georgia (about a mile from the rural Excelsior community, 700-yards off Remer Lane - there is a 24-ft. wide access road owned by the descendant Trustees of the small Cemetery where she is interred with her grandparents, her father and several other relatives).

Siblings of MACEY ANN CATHERINE BOWEN (1850-1935), including her, are listed below, in birth order:

1st Child - Macey Ann Catherine Bowen, b. 30 Oct 1850, d. 15 Apr 1935, married Pharis Elkins Phillips (1855-1913). Both are interred at Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia.

2nd Child - Elisha Jackson Bowen, b. 10 Aug 1852, d. d. 19 May 1930. His Death Certificate, dated June 1, 1930, states he is interred in Bulloch County however as of this writing his grave has not been found, and a findagrave.com Memorial Record has been established by a descendant in the findagrave.com record in Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia (in this writer’s opinion it would be appropriate, if his actual bural site cannot be established, to place a Stone Memorial there next to his Mother Headstone monument, or next to his father’s monument at Bowen-Dekle Cemetery, Candler County, Georgia. In the meantime, the search is still on for his actual burial site.

3rd Child - Rebecca Ann Bowen, b. 01 Apr 1855, d. 12 Nov 1937, married John Malcolm Warnock (1851-1941), both are interred at Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia.

4th Child - Alfred Jackson Bowen (Sr.), b. 31 May 1858, d. 06 Dec 1929, interred in Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, on US Highway 301, Bulloch County, Georgia.

5th Child - Margaret Elizabeth Bowen, b. 1860, d. 03 Jun 1934, married (1) Henry Grady Foston (1863 d. Unknown) and (2) Peter Cone Richardson (1839-1918), a CSA veteran. She had one child with her first husband and one child with her second husband. She is interred at Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia where all her sisters that survived to maturity are interred.
                    
6th Child - Silas Everett Bowen, b. 09 Feb 1862, d. 20 Sep 1931, His Death Certificate, dated December 30, 1931 by Registrar, Mrs. D. C. Jones, states his place of internment as Trinity Cemetery on 21 Sep 2014. An existing Trinity Cemetery, in Bulloch County, Georgia AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH has not yet been found by this writer after a year of investigation. The search is still on for his actual interment Cemetery and at least one of his direct descendants believes he was interred in the Cemetery now known as Union Baptist Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia.

7th Child - Deborah Bowen, b. 29 Jun 1865, d. Aug 1865, interred adjacent to her father and in the same plot containing the graves of her grandparents and her uncle Robert Bowen, born 1804, died circa 1805, an infant, and is interred atBowen-Dekle Family Cemetery, Candler County,Georgia near her father’s grave.

8th child - William Peter Bowen (b. ca. 1867, d. after 1900), in Bulloch County.  Burial location unknown.  He married Winnie Hagan (b. ?, d. ?),  They had 5 known children, listed in birth order:  
 a.  America Bowen, b. 30 MAY 1888, d. 21 NOV 1962, married Hartridge L. DeLoach, (1884-1970), both interred side by side in Lower Lotts Creek Church Cemetery, Bulloch County, Georgia,
 b. Leila Bowen, b. Feb 1889, d. Unknown.  Still searching for location of burial.
 c.  Johnnie Bowen, b. ca Feb 1893, d. Unknown.  Still searching for location of burial.
 d.  Gertrude Bowen, b. Ca. 1894.  Searching for location of burial.  
 e..  Annie Bowen, b. Aug 1895.  Searching for burial location. 

As one can readily see, this document is a WORK IN PROGRESS, dated June 30, 2015, by William Kenneth Bowen, the great grandson of John Hunter Bowen (1817-1871) and Susannah Elizabeth Strickland (1834-1904). Much additional information is needed to complete even a cursary listing of their eight children’s biography. Here the much more narrow objective is just to get all siblings of Macey Ann Catherine Bowen documented with CORRECT birth names, CORRECT dates of birth/death, CORRECT names of spouses, and CORRECT location of their final resting places documented and on the find-a-grave memorials of all the family members. Over time, with the willing and able assistance of their direct descendants it will all come together, I believe, and will be a record all can use with confidence of accuracy.
