WILLIAM PETER BOWEN (1869-circa 1918) was born in Bulloch County, Georgia to a CSA Veteran, JOHN HUNTER BOWEN (1817-1871, and SUSANNAH ELIZABETH STRICKLAND (1834-1904). His grandparents are ELISHA BOWEN (1778-1826) & PENELOPE EVERETT (1782-1849), of North Carolina, who made the long journey overland to Bulloch County, Georgia, circa 1805, seeking their own farmland to build a new life and make their fortune in this area of Georgia.

He married Winnie Anna Hagan (b. Feb 1873, d. After 1920, still searching actual death date). They had at least eight (8) known children together. DEC 1889, d. 1918) She died On or After 20 NOV 1916 and Before the 1920 US Federal Census (Source: 1920 US Federal Census & her last child was born 20 NOV 1916). She married Lovin Smith on 26 SEP 1909. There is no trace of her after the birth of their last-born child on 20 NOV 2016. Winnie America's husband had married a 2nd time to Maggie Lieu Chester when the 1920 US Federal Census was taken. She lived all her life in Bulloch County, Georgia and is interred with her husband in EASTSIDE CEMETERY, Statesboro, Bulloch County, Georgia. She last lived in Brooklet, Bulloch County, Georgia. 2). Myrtle Bernice Smith, a daughter, b. 12 JUL 1912, d. 10 JAN 1988. Married Roland A. Carnes, b. 05 APR 1912, d. 11 APR 1970. Both are interred in BULLOCH MEMORIAL GARDENS CEMETERY, Bulloch County, Georgia.

3). Mollie Esther Smith. b. 13 NOV 1914, d. 27 JAN 1995. Married Steve "Stevy" Watson Gladin, b. 10 MAR 1913, d. 15 JUN 1983. Both are interred in WESTSIDE MEMORIAL GARDENS CEMETERY, Bloomingdale, Chatham County, Georgia.

4). James Woodroe Smith, b. 20 NOV 1916, d. 01 JAN 1995. Married Myrtice Whitaker, b. 16 JUL 1917, d. 18 JUN 2015. Both are interred in BULLOCH MEMORIAL GARDENS CEMETERY, Bulloch County, Georgia.

Married Lurine Williams (b. 05 NOV 1912 - in Candler County, Georgia, d. 23 JAN 1977- in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia), daughter of Ben Franklin Williams and Cora C. Williams. Both are interred in LOWER LOTTS CREEK CHURCH CEMETERY, Bulloch County, Georgia. Before the death of Ulysses Grant Bowen, he and his wife, Lurine Williams, had at least four (4) children, as follows, in birth order:

Charles Gordon Bowen, b. 13 JAN 1914, d. 13 MAR 1969 (died at ate 55 years, 2 months), interred in BONAVENTURE CEMETERY, SAVANNAH, CHATHAM COUNTY, GEORGIA (LOT #92) He married Pearl Geneva Counce (1925 - 2005), daughter of Clarence H. Counce & Ola Carrie Zeigler. They divorced and she is interred in SIMMONS BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY, Citra, Marion County, Florida under the name PEARL G. WIMBERLY. His wife was called "Grace" by all her contemporaries.

He married Ann Elizabeth "Annie Eliza" Williams (1867-1931), daughter of Aaron Cone Williams (1847-1902) & Mary Jane DeLoach (1852-1946).
