Flossie went to school at Wyatt and Greeley in Colorado, and College View in Lincoln, Nebraska. She joined the SDA Church in her girlhood.
In 1913, Flossie and Richard R. Matthews were married. He was from Kansas. They homesteaded in Eastern Colorado. Then they moved to Kansas. There Flossie died on December 17, 1926 at her home and was buried at Clayton, Kansas.
