Casket burial. Buried in Oak Mound Cemetery on 2 Dec 1937.


Parents are Anders Olson and Lisa Anderson. From Sweden to Ada, MN, then in 1883 was employed at the Oliver Dalrymple Farms of Dakota for 13 years. He was named foreman of the largest farm in the Northwest. Came to Clay County in 1895 and farmed in Oakport and Kragnes Townships. He farmed 2,300 acres which included Dr. Andrews's 800-acre "Woodlawn Farm."


Alfred was an active Oak Mound Community member and served many capacities in the community and greater Kragnes area during his lifetime. He was a charter member of the Kragnes Farmers Elevator and served on their board, also serving as chairman and longtime supervisor of the Kragnes Township Board. He bought an elevator in Kragnes in 1917.


Alfred was also president of the Kragnes State Bank. He was a member of Oak Mound Congregational Church, serving as church treasurer and a trustee. He was also a member of the first Oak Mound School Board in 1912, later serving as board president for many years. On June 27, 1901, Alfred became a charter member of the Oak Mound Cemetery Association and was its first president, serving from 1901 until his death in 1937.

ALFRED OLSON, KRAGNES, DIES


Alfred Olson, 80, Kragnes township, Clay county resident for 40 years, and formerly of Casselton, died Sunday in his farm home.


Born June 11, 1857, at Varmeland, Sweden, he came directly to Ada, Minn., in 1882. He resided there a year, moving to the Casselton vicinity, where he was employed on the Dalrymple farms for 14 years. He then moved to Kragnes township where he had lived since.


He was a member of the Oak Mound Congregational church and a member of the township board and school district 78 board.


He married Anna C. Nodsle in Fargo 48 years ago.


Besides Mrs. Olson, he leaves five sons, Alvin H., Benjamin L., Robert E., and Eben S. M., of Route 1, Moorhead, and Edward L., 402 Ninth st N, Moorhead; a daughter, Mrs. E. O. Turing of Halstad, Minn.; nine grandchildren; two brothers and a sister, in Sweden.

The body is at Wright's funeral home, pending funeral arrangements.

DEATH OCCURS SUNDAY; HAD LIVED NEAR MOORHEAD SINCE 1897


Alfred Olson, Moorhead, Route 1, died at his home in Kragnes township Sunday at 9:30 p. m. He was 80 years old.


Born June 11, 1857, in Varmland, Sweden, Olson came from Sweden in 1882 he lived for 14 years, working on the Dalrymple farm. After 14 years at Casselton he moved to Kragnes township where he had lived since. He married Anna C. Nodsle in Fargo 48 years ago.


Surviving besides his wife are five sons, Alvin H., Benjamin L., Robert E., and Eben S. M., all of Route 1, Moorhead, and Edward L., 402 Ninth street north; one daughter, Mrs. E. O. Turing, Halstad; two brothers, Edwin and Andrew in Sweden and one sister, Mrs. May Carlson, also Sweden. There are nine grandchildren.


He was a member of the Oak Mound Congregational church and had held offices on the town board and school board in district 78.


The body is at the Wright funeral home.
