Heart Attack Fatal at Age of 63
Mathias A. Endres, 63, for the past eight years organist at St Raphael's Church, died at home, 214 South Charter Street, Sunday night from a heart ailment. He played the organ at mass Saturday, but was unable to play at any of the masses on Sunday. For almost a half century Mr Endres was interested in organist work, and during his life he taught music and played in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio, and Kentucky. He was born in Dane, Wisconsin, and early acquired musical talent at St Francis seminary. After finishing school, he became organist at St Peter's Church, Ashton. He came to Madison in 1925. Surviving are his widow, one son, Roland, and seven daughters, Eulalia "Lol," Salome "Sally," Olive, Flora (Mrs Lorenz Potter), Mildred (Brown), Marie, and Emma Endres-Kountz. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. from St James Church. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Brothers to Sing at Endres Rites
Funeral services for Mathias A. Endres, 63, a Madison organist who died Sunday, will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in St James Church, the Rev William Wolf officiating. Six brothers, five of whom sang at services while Mr Endres was organist at St Raphael's Church, will sing at his mass. They are Albert, Joseph, Gregory, William and Frank Endres of Madison, and Alphonse of St Paul, Minnesota. Pallbearers will be Paul Endres, William Endres, Jr., Frank Ripp, Gerhard Ripp, Vincent Doll, and John Doll, nephews of the deceased.
