Obituary Jacob Rausenberger, date of death--August 16, 1949:
Jacob Rausenberger, son of George Rausenberger and Fredericke nee Veit, was born June 22, 1863, in Kenigreich, Germany. He was baptized in early infancy. At the age of seven years he came to America with his parents and lived in Philadelphia, PA. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At the age of 15, he moved to Chelsea, Iowa to live with his uncle where he stayed until the year of 1887. In this same year, 1887, he came to Minnesota and settled in Rosehill township, and bought the farm 5 miles south from Westbrook. On February 18, 1890 the deceased entered into the holy estate of matrimony with Miss Emma Grams. God blessed this union with 10 children. By the Providence of God the couple was privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on February 18, 1940. Mr. and Mrs. Rausenberger were on the farm until 1948 when they moved to their new home in Westbrook.
The deceased had been ailing for about three years. The cause of his passing could be attributed to old age. He passed away on Tuesday, August 16 (1949), at 2 PM at his home. He reached the age of 86 years, 1 month and 25 days.
Jacob took a great interest in public affairs. He served on the church council, was a director of the Farmer's Elevator, a member of the school board and for 43 years served as a board member of the Westbrook Mutual Insurance Company.
His passing is mourned by his widow, Mrs. J. Rausenberger, and his 10 children namely: Frida (Mrs. Bert Busswitz) of Westbrook, Nellie (Mrs. Christ Comnick) of Bertrum, Willie of Heron Lake, Walter of Slayton, Ann (Mrs. George Lidtke) Westbrook, Paul, Dundee, Stella (Mrs. Walter Jensen) Westbrook, George, Dundee, Alfred, Fulda. 16 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many other relatives and a host of friends.Services were held in the Rosehill Lutheran church Thursday the 18th at 2 PM.
