The daughter of William Payton Cockrell and Anna Mary Fiedler, Minnie married Elbie Bell on 25 Jul 1917 in Batchtown, Calhoun County, Illinois. They were the parents of 5 children.

Shortly after their marriage, Elbie served in the United States military during World War I with the 1st Battalion, 160th Depot Brigade.

Minnie died 15 days before her 91st birthday at Calhoun Care Center. She was survived by 3 sons, Kermit of Batchtown, Carl of Florida, and James of Kansas; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, Jerome Cockrell of Batchtown.

In addition to her parents, Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Elbie; and 2 sons, Herbert and Pat Bell.

Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m. on 19 Mar 1989 at Hanks Funeral Home in Hardin. Funeral services were conducted there at 11 a.m. the following morning. Minnie was buried next to her husband, Elbie, who passed away in 1971.

The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to Calhoun County Ambulance Service or to a charity of one's choice.
