PEARL BIRKHEAD
Pearl Alice Birkhead, 84, daughter of James and Belle Wallace, was born April 28, 1902, at Raymondville. She died Jan. 6, 1987, at the Salem Memorial Hospital.
On Jan. 8, 1934, she married L.R. "Bob" Birkhead, who preceded her in death in 1957.
She was survived by a stepson, Wayne Birkhead of Licking; and one sister, Theta Freese of Springfield.
She was a longtime resident of Houston, and was a retired linotype operator, having been employed several years ago by the Houston Herald.
She was an active member of Central Baptist Church and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Services were Thursday, Jan. 8, at Central Baptist Church near Houston with the Rev. Harold Smith officiating. Burial was in the Pinelawn Cemetery under the direction of the James and Gahr Mortuary of Salem.
