Stricken Suddenly With Rare Disease of Throat, Causing His Death
Sunday Morning at Nave Hospital
Melvin Evenson, forty-four years of age, 511 Pleasant avenue, this city, passed
away at Naeve's hospital Sunday morning between nine and ten o'clock after suffering
since last Wednesday last with a rare disease Which entirely closed his throat. The disease
is called agranulocytic angina. It comes when a certain type of white blood cells, or
corpuscles, cease to form.
Melvin for the past ten years has been an employee of the Gulbrandson Hardware
Co. in the tinner's department.
In the World war he was a private in the Sixth Company, 161st Depot Brigade,
entering the army on August 5, 1918 at twenty-nine years of age.
The funeral will take place Tuesday at two o'clock in the afternoon from the First
Lutheran church on West Clark street. Rev. Sorenson will officiate. Interment will be
made in the cemetery lot in Lakewood cemetery by the side of his father who was killed
twelve years ago in a railroad train accident.
