"Death Claims W. Carmichael, former 'Smithy'

"William Carmichael, for many years a blacksmith in Woodland, died in Sacramento Thursday. He was 67 years old, a native of Canada.

"Besides his wife, Florence Carmichael, he leaves a son Victor D. of Placer, four brothers and two sisters: Albert Carmichael of St. Louis, Missouri, Rev. Harvey Carmichael, Dr. Victor and Dr. Andrew Carmichael; and Mrs. Elizabeth Lindsay and Mrs. Mary Lawrence of Canada.

"Rites Saturday - The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Sacramento chapel of Harry A. Nauman and Sons, 2012 28th Street. The interment will be in the Masonic Lawn cemetery.

"Mr. Carmichael was a sportsman to whom the boxing game had a particular fascination. He fought several amateur fights here as a heavyweight, giving a good account of himself.

"The family moved to Sacramento about 20 years ago but frequently visited with Woodland friends."
