Wanda June Burns Jones
July 14, 1925 - June 30, 2007

Wanda "June" Jones, 81, of Girard, passed away at 1:30 a.m., Saturday, June 30, 2007, at her home.

Mrs. Jones was born July 14, 1925, to John Camblin and Myrtle D. (Burris) Burns.

On April 18, 1951, she was united in marriage to Elvis Levi Jones at Pittsburg. He preceded her in death on August 28, 1986.

Mrs. Jones was a cook for the Congregate Meals and the Head Start Program.

She enjoyed bird watching, but her greatest love was cooking and caring for her family.

Membership was held in the Girard Crossroads Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Marvin Jones of Girard, KS and E.C. McCormack of Girard, KS, five daughters; Mary Highfield, Girard, KS, Lea Schaub, Arcadia, KS, Alana Knox, Wichita, KS, Vicki Saia, Girard, KS, and Susan Aldrighetti, Girard, KS three brothers; Harold, Willard "Dud", and Joe Burns, two sisters; Alice Cherry and Norma Washington, twelve grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Thomas A. Jones, five brothers; George Marshall, Melvin, Millard, John Donald, and Roy Burns, and one sister, Annie Sterling.

Services for Mrs. Jones are set for 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 3, at the Girard Crossroads Baptist Church, with Pastor Mike Buckamneer officiating.

Burial will follow into the Beulah Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2-5 p.m., Monday and from 9-11 a.m., Tuesday at the Brenner Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Hospice and/or Girard Crossroads Baptist Church. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th Street, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
