Myrtle "Alice" Cherry, 91, of Olathe went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 24, 2022. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she knew.

Alice was born on June 22, 1930, in Beulah to John Camblen and Myrtle Deborah (Burris) Burns. She graduated from Cherokee High School.

She grew up with and married the love of her life, Marvin Leonard Cherry, on May 13, 1948. Together they raised their four children, John, Ron, Becky and Gwen. Alice was a professional cook working several different positions in food service. She was a devoted member of her church, the Church of the Nazarene in Parsons and in Girard and Westside Church of the Nazarene in Olathe. Alice loved assisting with church dinners, church camps and catering various events. She helped run the church day care center and owned her own business, Cherry Tree Daycare. Alice was known as the "cinnamon roll lady." She baked her famous cinnamon rolls, and they were well known throughout the county.

She is survived by her children, John Cherry and his wife, Dianne, of Texarkana, Texas, daughter-in-law, Lynne Cherry of Parsons, Becky Sutton and her husband, David, of Nixa, Missouri, and Gwen Wilmoth and her husband, Mike, of Olathe. Left behind to cherish "Mamoo's" memory are her 11 grandchildren, Kristin Cherry, Jessica Bailey (Chuck), Ryan Cherry (K.J.), Natalie Lee (Michael), Ragan Schubert (Keith), Shane Cherry (Lynette), Amanda Brant (Nathan), Jeffrey Sutton, Megan Turner (Garry), Monica Spencer (Jason), Jared Wilmoth; 22 great-grandchildren, Audrey, Tripp Bailey, Hudson, Houston, Hendrick, and Hannah Cherry, Daniel, Silas Lee, Anna, Amos Schubert, Autumn, Cole Cherry, Adie, Liam Brant, Jacob Turner (Katelyn), Logan, Chloe Turner, Eli, Josiah, Michaela, Abigail and Jeremiah Spencer; and two great-great- grandsons, Timothy and Alexander Turner. Alice is also survived by her sister, Norma Hellen Washington. Alice also had many "adopted" children and grandchildren who affectionately called her "mom" and "mamoo."

She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 65 years, Marvin Cherry, who passed away on Dec. 20, 2013; her loving son, Ron Cherry; eight brothers, George "Marshall" Burns, Melvin Burns, Millard Edwin Burns, John "Donald" Burns, Harold Max Burns, Willard Ralph "Dud" Burns, Charles Leroy "Roy" Burns and Robert "Joseph" Burns; and two sisters, Anna Pearl "Annie" Sterling and Wanda "June" Jones.
