OBITUARY: Chattanooga Daily Times, Sunday, September 2, 1962

BLEVINS - LESLIE SHERMAN, 47, prominent farmer of the New Hope community passed away at South Pittsburg Hospital Saturday morning after an extended illness. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mattie Ruth Blevins; two sons, Ray and Charles Blevins of South Pittsburg; three daughters, Mrs. Joe Rorex of Guild, Tennessee; Misses Melba Ruth and Beverly Jane Blevins of South Pittsburg; five brothers, Luther, Oscar, Bill, Clayton and Lonnie Blevins all of South Pittsburg; a foster brother, John Beene of Germany; five sisters, Mrs. Estelle Peoples, Mrs. Bonnie Hookey and Mrs. Martha Ann Railey all of South Pittsburg, and Mrs. Jennie Ruth Steele of Stevenson, Alabama; Mrs. Eula Mae Sells of Chattanooga, and six grandchildren. The body is at the home in the New Hope community. Funeral services will be conducted at Pine Grove Bapitst Church Sunday at 3 p.m. CST with the Rev. Harvey Chandler officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the following nephews: Dowell Peoples, Gerald Thomas, Mark Bearden, George King, Jerry Thomas and Tony Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be Riley Choate, Allen Peoples, Ely Blevins, Herschel Blevins, Mitchell Davis, James S. Henderson. Rogers Funeral Home at South Pittsburg is in charge of arrangements.
