Malinda Estelle Blevins Peoples was the 5th child of William H. T. "Harm" and Millie Edith Beene Blevins, born September 5, 1917 in Long Island, Alabama. She married Hershel Lyles Peoples on December 23, 1933. She and Lyles had three children, Gertrude, Dowell, and Pauline. Aunt Esstelle lived to be 98 years old and was fairly active until her last couple of years. She especially loved to make quilts and in her last years, would share the hobby with her sister Bonnie and her nieces, Sue Breedlove, and Doris King. She will be missed.

Melinda Estelle Blevins Peoples, 98, of Kimball, TN died Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at her home. The daughter of the late William Hiram and Millie Edith Beene Blevins, she was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, South Pittsburg where she was active in the Fidelis/Dorcas Sunday School Class. She began her nursing career as a nurse’s aide at Bridgeport Hospital. She continued her education, receiving her LPN certification. She went on to work at the Tri-City Clinic and later at South Pittsburg Municipal Hospital. Estelle also loved sewing and crafting and for many years had a sewing shop in downtown South Pittsburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Lyles Peoples and ten siblings. She is survived by her children, Gertrude Farmer of Hixson, TN, Ernest Dowell (Diane) Peoples, Sr. of Georgetown, TN, and Pauline (Ray) Clepper of South Pittsburg, TN; grandchildren, Brenda Farmer (John) Ivey of Ringgold, GA, Cynthia Farmer (Billy) Geren of Hixson, TN, Mike (Candy) Clepper, Wade (Beverly) Clepper both of Kimball, TN, Ernie Peoples, Jr. of Cleveland, TN and Melinda Beth Peoples (Scott) Dale of Hixson, TN; sister, Bonnie Frame of Kimball, TN; eleven great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 1:00 pm Central time on Thursday, November 5, 2015 with Rev. Charlie Campbell and Rev. Brad Bridgman officiating. Interment will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens. The family will gather with friends for visitation on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 5-8pm Central time at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or by visiting www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.
