William Schuler Dies Suddenly Friday

Drops Dead on Street On Way Home Friday Noon - Funeral Held Sunday

William Schuler, a resident of State Center for many years, dropped dead shortly before noon Friday, November 2, in front of the George Wengert residence in this city. Mr Schuler had been down town attending to the sale of some apples and was on his way home when he was stricken. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

William Schuler was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, January 17, 1860, and came to America with his parents in 1867. He was married in State Center to Miss Carolina Rittierodt on March 5, 1896, and they made their home on a farm six miles northwest of State Center until twenty-five years ago, when they moved into town.

Besides his widow, he is survived by eight children: Velma, Mildred and William L, at home; Mrs George Buck, Arnold and Wilbert, all of this city; Mrs Harry Greiner of Colo and Clarence Schuler of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, all living in this city; a brother and two sisters, Henry Schuler, Mrs Henry Frohwein and Mrs J B Anselme, all of State Center.

A short prayer service was held at the home on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, and a service at St Paul's Evangelcial Lutheran Church at 2:30, in charge of Rev Mr Schultz of Kellogg. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery.
